"We've never done a 'real' family photography session before. Rather, we go on cruises and get family photos done on the cruises, but they're not good ones," Takisha and Kofi said at their planning & design meeting.
Kofi wanted a more casual look, while Takisha wanted something more formal, so in the end, they settled on semi-formal clothing after perusing samples from some of our other woodsy family photography sessions. Takisha also wanted me to know that she likes smiling photos, and that she prefers it when they're all looking at the camera.
"Some can be not looking, but I definitely want some looking," she said. "And lighting is important because of our dark skin."
And while we had originally planned for a summer family photography session hiking the forested paths of Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson, MD, before the session, they decided to push back their session, which turned out to be the perfect timing for fall family pictures.
Enjoy some of my favorites from their fall family pictures below, and check back for a glimpse of the 6-piece canvas wall portrait grouping that they chose at their photo reveal & ordering appointment!
