Meet Ava!
Ava is an incredible Bethesda, MD senior graduating from a New England boarding school. She has an endless list of astounding talents... everything from playing softball to playing the piano and writing her own music (!). and she even makes and sells her own jewelry on Etsy!
She reached out to me because it wasn't customary for her school to have yearbook senior portraits, and Ava wanted to have something to remember this pivotal moment in her life, not just for her, but for her family as well.
The Consultation
Ava's grandmother and great-grandmother were both photographers & artists. During her senior portrait consultation, we discussed how Ava liked candid photos where she wasn't necessarily looking at the camera. We also talked about her fashionista style, her love of the ocean and nature, and the possible outfits that would complement that.
Ava said that she would like senior portraits that made her look and feel confident, pretty, and beautiful, whereas her mom wanted a set of senior portraits for her that were classic and classy and that would stand the test of time, including both smiling and non-smiling portraits. Martha wanted Ava to come into her "photo reveal," and say, "I can't decide which I like best; I love them all!"
A little side note - as a senior portrait photographer, I am here to help my clients prepare for their photography sessions. From what to wear for your senior portraits to how to pose, and even collaborating with you on ideas for the senior portraits themselves. Our aim is to give you a fun, red carpet experience without any of the stress.
We also wanted to make sure we gave Ava a bespoke experience that was just for her. Ava shared some hesitations about being photographed, but we assured her that we would do everything in our power to make her feel comfortable and give her a fantastic and unforgettable senior portrait experience.
Senior Portrait Photography Day
For the location of Ava's senior portraits, we landed on Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson, MD. If you've ever been there, you know about the breathtaking views from the top of the mountain. Ava also chose a gorgeous, vibrant teal blue fabric that we styled into a dress with just a few clips, and then we scattered some sunflowers around her for a beautiful contrast. Speaking of bespoke senior portrait experiences... I don't think any of Ava's friends will have senior portraits like these! So... scroll down below and tell us... what do you think of the results of Ava's senior portrait photography session?
