It was late March when I received a phone call from the California-based Campbell Foundation asking for my availability for a telephone call with their President.
“Our foundation is the largest private funder of Chesapeake Bay environmental restoration and protection,” she explained, “and we’re looking for a top notch photographer to update headshots for the staff in our Annapolis office. We absolutely loved your photography site, and are hoping you might be interested in helping us out. We’re specifically looking to incorporate the Chesapeake Bay environment in our photos.“
A week or so later when speaking with the President of the foundation, I asked her… why me? And she replied:
“I looked at the photography websites of 15-20 local photographers, and liked your environmental portraits. The people looked attractive and relaxed; I liked the backgrounds and how some of them were out of focus, as well as the lighting treatment, which was stylish but not overdone. Nothing looked forced, and people’s personalities and styling looked good – they looked like themselves – very natural.”
Wow! It’s rare to speak with someone who has such a good handle on exactly what it is that they’re looking for! It turns out that this polished woman used to be an art director… well that explains it! Anyway, I went on to work with the Annapolis staff to select the perfect location for our headshots session, and over the next week or so, we narrowed the options down to Jonas Green Park, which really did turn out to be a fantastic spot! Enjoy the fruits of our labor below!
