It was Jesselyn & Grant’s first time going to the Capital Area Food Bank’s annual Blue Jeans Ball. The consulting company that Grant works for had a table at the ball, and Grant was lucky enough to snab two of the seats. They knew they wanted to donate to the charity, and with their Dominican Republic destination wedding coming up in September, they needed an engagement photographer. (“We want engagement photos because we know we won’t get good wedding photography [in the Dominican Republic]" Jesselyn told me.) There were multiple bidders on the engagement photography session that we donated to the charity for auction, and the bidding war began, and yay, they were the lucky winner! When we met for their pre-portrait planning/design meeting, they loved the idea of going to Old Town Alexandria in Northern Virginia. Jesselyn wanted some greenery, and with summer in full bloom, there was plenty of green growing around Old Town. And in addition to “serious normal” photos, they wanted some engagement photos of themselves being silly, their self-professed “natural state.” Yay!!! I do love silly! A few weeks after their engagement photography session, they came back to our studio for the “photo reveal,” and chose a 4-piece canvas love grouping to hang over their fireplace mantle, in addition to some other products. I’ll post a photo of their love grouping soon!
