L was looking for an online dating photographer who specialized in online dating pictures - a photographer for whom online dating photos was a specific product line and focus. She hates having pictures taken of her, she confessed. There are some really bad photos of her floating around, she told me, including one that her mom has framed and refuses to remove. (How many of you are in the same boat?) With her new online dating pictures, she'll be able to send a gorgeous portrait to her mom to replace the one in the frame, I told her... lack of a replacement portrait was probably the reason her mom refused to give up the bad one!
L told me that she's not an outdoorsy person, so she preferred an urban location for her online dating pictures. We considered the lovely Crystal City Water Park in Arlington, VA, but in the end, L decided on Rockville Town Center in Maryland. As a business headshots photographer, I love Rockville Town Center with it's interesting murals and public artwork, wrought iron gating, and colorful walls and shoplights. We've photographed there on many occasions for professional headshots, but this was our first time there for online dating photos.
It was just before Christmas, and we lucked out with beautiful 50 degree weather. It wasn't sunny, but it was still a beautiful day for December. L brought 3 outfits, aiming to get a professional headshot for LinkedIn, in addition to the online dating pictures. I've included some of our favorite online dating photos and outdoor headshots from her session below. Enjoy!
L knows that a picture says 1000 words, and a bad picture says 1000 wrong ones! It's a new year - make it one of your new year's resolutions to update your online dating profile with the best online dating photos possible, and get stunning portraits of yourself to send to your mom in the process.
