When Susan first contacted me about professional headshots in mid-March, she excitedly explained that after a long career in the public school system teaching English as a Second Language, she’s starting her own freelance business as an education consultant for English language learners. The headshot she was using on LinkedIn – in her own words – was “so dark and looks terribly unprofessional.” Susan confessed that she’s always had a difficult time being photographed, and that poor lighting had a lot to do with it. With her new business in the horizon, it was time to get serious about finding a professional photographer who has the skill and personality to create relaxed-looking professional headshots, and could identify the most flattering camera angles and lighting for her features.
Susan decided to go for a more personality-filled environmental headshot as opposed to a standard studio-style headshot. Her home in Ijamsville, Maryland is decorated with vibrant Mexican pottery and painted in Mexican colors. With much of her work focused on Spanish-speakers, and her background and links to Mexico, where she lived for many years, it was the perfect backdrop for her professional headshots.
Susan, if you’re “listening,” I really enjoyed meeting and working with you, and of course, seeing your fabulous dolls! (That’s another side business of Susan’s… as a dollmaker! Her dolls are incredibly stylish, fashionable, and artistic … more than you’d ever imagine if you haven’t seen them yourself!) And many thanks for writing an awesome review of my Ijamsville professional headshot services on Angie’s List!
