Social Media
Without getting too technical on you.. it is averaged that teens spend countless hours on social media every day. From the moment they wake up to the minute before they fall asleep, social media is a huge part of their lives. And we've all seen the reports on the negative effect these social platforms have on children and teens. They are worried about fitting in, looking like every celebrity and influencer they see and stressed about being tagged in a photo that doesn't fit the mold.
Breaking the Mold
I started the 'Confident Girls, Empowered Women' Teen & Tween Photography Project to resist the pressure that social media is putting on these young women... to show them how beautiful, unique and perfectly-imperfect they really are! We are raising the future leaders of the world and they deserve to be celebrated for their differences.
Meet Ruby
I was so excited to learn that Ruby is a tenacious, photography-loving young woman from Great Falls, VA who will be taking advanced photography courses in her last years of high school! She also loves fashion and sews her own clothes. How AMAZING is that! As if that didn't already make her a fascinating young woman, she also plays tennis and volleyball. There's nothing she can't do.
The Location
We landed on the gorgeous Sugarloaf Mountain for her Confident Girls, Empowered Women teen photography session and let me tell you... this is one of my favorite places for teen photography. Her outfits perfectly complemented the wonderful colors of the outdoors, and as you can see, we had wonderful weather.
Brighter Future
I'm so excited about where Ruby's path is taking her. I hope, as the years go on, she remembers her experience in our 'Confident Girls, Empowered Women' project and is reminded that she is the only one that holds the power to control her path in life, and that she can confidently do that while embracing her uniqueness.
"Life isn't meant to be lived perfectly...but merely to be lived.
Boldly, wildly, beautifully, uncertainly, imperfectly, magically lived"
