If the thought of a boudoir photography session and baring your most intimate self to your boudoir photographer, who is probably a complete stranger, makes you more than a little bashful, you wouldn’t be alone. The first e-mail I received from D. – the wife of a friend of mine – included this:
“I have NEVER EVER done any boudoir photos or any other intimate photos, so to say that I am shy is an understatement. BUT, I know [my husband] would love for me to do something like that for him, and I would only trust you to do something like this.” And when we spoke on the phone, D. told me that just earlier in the year, her husband had been telling her about my boudoir photography, and her first reaction had been… “Really? People do things like that? I would never do boudoir photos!”
Yet, we had an absolutely amazing boudoir photography session at D.’s home in Gaithersburg, Maryland, featuring a hot pink and aqua outfit, a beautiful stone-studded, ornamental room divider that we used as a backdrop for some of her boudoir photos, a candle-lit fireplace, a piano, and a sheepskin rug. At D.’s photo reveal / boudoir photography ordering appointment, we planned a 4-piece canvas love grouping to go over their bed. (Funny enough, when D's husband received his boudoir photography gift, he decided to hang the love grouping in his home office instead.)
I have to also say that D.’s mom-in-law was awesome! She not only did D.’s makeup, but she was on hand throughout the boudoir photography session to help stylize and came to the photo reveal to help D. pick her favorites. I’m just so happy that D. had an amazing, enjoyable boudoir photography experience! In her words:
“I just want to say THANK YOU for your patience and for making the boudoir photography shoot so much fun. I have to say, it was a great confidence boost for me as well… You are a true professional and I am so grateful…”
Thank you, D.! I love being a boudoir photographer!
(We value our boudoir clients' privacy, and D. asked us not to post her boudoir photography online with the exception of the one sheepskin rug boudoir photo below.)
