I’d never photographed a trapeze artist before, so I loved the idea of including a trapeze in Carly & Neal’s engagement portraits. They wanted their engagement photography to be giggly and happy, silly and interactive, the opposite of a classic, indoor portrait style, and Carly told me that they hadn’t found many other engagement photographers that fit their vision. Incorporating their love for water and hiking (they’ll be hiking the Appalachian Trail for their honeymoon!), the lesser-known Riverbend Park in Northern Virginia – just around the corner from Great Falls, but without the hordes of people – seemed the perfect location. And so we hiked a bit of trail to a magnificent tree to hang Carly’s trapeze from. And the rest is history!!!
