Almost-3-year-old Evan and his dad, Al, and I met up at the beginning of the month at Manassas National Battlefield Park in Virginia. In our initial telephone consultation, Al told me he wanted to have their family photography session in an outdoor, park-like venue, and I suggested Manassas National Battlefield Park. With its vast expanses of waist-high grass…textured red stone house and bridge…dirt roads and lush forests, what an awesome location for a “daddy & me” family photography session! And with fall in the air, little Evan had fun walking the wall of the stone bridge, kicking up fallen autumn leaves, and peeking through the blades of red, yellow, and green-toned grass. But you know what it is that I’ll never forget about this session? It’s the look on Al’s face and the distinct catch in his voice when Evan ran towards him, and Al gathered him up in a hug, saying “I love you so much.”
