It took both a recommendation from a past family photography / business portrait client and the repeated coaxing of her marketing consultant to gently convince camera-shy Marva to call me. Marva is a holistic health coach and owner of M3Wellness, LLC. She explained to me:
“I hate having my picture taken, so when my marketing consultant said I need pictures for my new website, I thought she meant pictures of other things, and then when she said ‘pictures of you,’ I said… really??? There’s never a good picture of me. I’m often being dragged into being photographed against my will, and pictures of me never look right. My face looks scrunchy, my glasses fall too far down my nose, and my smile always looks terrible.”
But now, she’s working on a rebranding, and her marketing consultant said she needs a five business portrait series in various outfits for her new website (under development) and marketing materials. She should like professional, yet casual; casual, yet put together; confident and at peace, joyful and elated, loving and calm.
“I like the simplicity and cleanness of your business portrait portfolio. Your photography is understated, yet very professional. You capture personalities, and your business portraits aren’t just studio headshots, so they’re interesting,”
Marva said to me.
Marva is an outdoor-sy person and a Washington DC girl, so we met up for her business portrait set at Montrose Park / Georgetown in Washington DC. Many thanks to Marva for later writing the following recommendation of our business portrait services on LinkedIn:
“I had the tremendous pleasure of working with Irene for my professional headshots. I was leary of making this investment because I have always hated all photos of myself. Irene knew this because she took the time to talk to me and get to know me before the photo shoot so was brilliant at getting me to relax and “show my personality” during the shoot. I was amazed at the number of photos that I not only liked but loved. Irene is a real gem and for anyone who thinks they take terrible pictures – she’s the one for you.”
Have you always hated photos of yourself?
If so, then we might be just the right business portrait photographer for you.
