When I first began the 50 Over 50 & Fabulous Beauty Photography Project, I did it to help women celebrate and embrace the beauty of aging, promote self-confidence, and to help them build a lasting legacy. What I realized after photographing 100 women in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s across two rounds of the project is that my project participants gained so much more! Scroll down below for some of the things I've heard throughout the many project interviews as to why the women chose to join our 50 Over 50 & Fabulous Project, how they grew from it, and why they think other women should join the project too. And as you scroll, enjoy some of our favorite beauty & boudoir photography from Michele's 50 Over 50 & Fabulous session.

What Women Age 50+ Have to Gain from a Professional Beauty Photography Session:
Preserving Priceless Memories: As you age, these portraits become treasured records of significant life experiences. The visual memories serve as a timeless reminder of the moments that have shaped their lives, providing a sense of nostalgia and connection to the past.
Celebrating the Beauty of Aging: Photography empowers women 50+ to celebrate the beauty of aging gracefully. Through images, the photographer showcases their self-confidence, wisdom, and self-acceptance. Embracing their authentic selves in portraits challenges societal beauty norms and promotes a positive message of self-worth and body positivity, inspiring both themselves and others.
A Powerful Outlet for Self-Expression: Being photographed offers a dynamic platform for self-expression. It enables women to convey their unique perspectives, styles, and personalities through visual storytelling. Capturing their daily lives, passions, and creative endeavors in portraits provides a means of sharing their individuality and life journey with the world.
Inspiring and Empowering Others: By sharing their experiences and accomplishments through photography, women over 50 have the potential to inspire and empower both younger generations and their peers. Their visual stories serve as a testament to the strength, resilience, and limitless potential that comes with age, challenging stereotypes and encouraging others to embrace the fullness of life.
Preserving Cultural and Family Heritage: Photography plays a crucial role in documenting cultural and family heritage. The images captured of women 50+ contribute to the preservation of their communities' and families' histories. These visual records provide future generations with valuable insights into their roots and heritage, fostering a sense of connection to their past.
Positive Impact on Mental Well-being: Engaging in photography can have a positive impact on mental well-being. It encourages mindfulness, fosters creativity, and serves as a therapeutic and stress-relieving activity. The process of being captured in portraits brings joy and a sense of accomplishment, contributing to overall emotional well-being.
Rekindling Passions and Personal Growth: Photography provides an opportunity for women to rekindle passions and hobbies - to be documented through portraits - that may have been set aside during earlier life stages.
Strengthening Connections: Sharing photos with loved ones, whether through social media or personal albums, helps strengthen connections and maintain relationships, especially when separated by distance. Portraits allow women to share their life experiences and stay connected with family and friends.
Leaving a Lasting Legacy: By creating a visual record of their life journeys, women over 50 leave behind a lasting legacy for future generations. These images, stories, and memories ensure that their experiences and wisdom are passed down, enriching the lives of their families and communities.
In conclusion, being photographed preserves memories and is a powerful way to celebrate self-worth and inspire others, document cultural heritage, and foster personal growth. Being photographed empowers women 50+ to embrace the beauty of aging and share their unique stories with the world.
