Congratulations go to Carla & Pete, wed at the historic l’Aiglon Mansion (today home to Stroga Yoga Studio) in Washington, DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood. Carla’s family is from Bolivia, and Pete travels frequently to South America for work as well, so this non-traditional wedding was full of South American flavors! My favorites were hands down the pig cutting (in lieu of a cake cutting), the cookie cake (tiered trays of South American desserts in lieu of traditional wedding cake), and the semi-circular seating arrangements at the wedding ceremony. And of course, Carla was glowingly gorgeous in her bridal attire by Elegance by Roya. Congratulations to the beautiful couple! Check out some of their wedding photography favorites below!

Planning a Latin wedding of your own and searching for just the right artistic wedding photographer?
A friend of the family designed these two illuminated vases of silver and ivory flowers that decorated the altar at the wedding ceremony.
Beautiful wedding venues are music to this Washington DC wedding photographer's ears. The 2nd floor ballroom of l’Aiglon Mansion (today Stroga Studio), with its beautiful, ornate ceilings, overlooks the staircase.
I love how Carla & Pete chose to arrange the wedding ceremony seating in two slight semicircles on each side of the aisle for a more unique feel, as opposed to traditional row seating.
This bride & groom love food, cooking, and South American food, and the pig-cutting was a hallmark of the evening. The pig was roasted on site by the catering service, whose specialty is a fusion of Caribbean, Spanish, and South American flavors and ingredients. And of course, the pig-cutting made for very fun wedding photography!
The wedding favors included stuffed llamas and Latin American dolls.
In lieu of a wedding cake, South American pastries are arranged on tiered trays, affectionately referred to as the “cookie cake” – by Carmen “Lupe” Castillo.
