It was almost 12 months to the day prior to their wedding that I first spoke with Andrea about professional wedding photography for their special day.
“I was most impressed by your wedding photography website,” she said. “I’m not much of a posey person, and I like the idea of capturing natural gestures and people in the moment... I love your artistic style. It looks like you could make a rainy day look beautiful, and I want timeless photographs that we’re going to have forever.”
After that first call, Andrea traveled for a few weeks, so a month went by before I had the opportunity to meet Andrea and Ryan in person. That’s when Ryan told me their love story.
“We met in college, but married other people and had kids. Years later, I had a dream. I couldn’t remember her last name, but we used to write letters to each other, and in my dream, I saw her last name on an envelope, and so then when I woke up, I reached out to her via Facebook.”
How romantic is that? How meant to be!
Each time that I met Andrea & Ryan, I got to know them a little bit better. They are super sweet, laid back, thoughtful, respectful, and just a real joy and a whole lot of fun to work with. They’ve lived in New Market, Maryland for years, on a beautiful lake community that made the perfect setting for their first look and bride & groom & family portraits. Their sweet ceremony took place at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with attendance from the closest of family and friends. We all headed over to Dutch’s Daughter restaurant in Frederick, Maryland for an evening of intimate conversation, celebration, and spectacular fine dining.
1 1/2 weeks after the wedding, I posted their sneak peek, choreographed wedding photography slideshow, and this was Andrea’s e-mail back:
“It’s awesome! Ryan and I are watching with tears streaming down our faces. Thank you for the beautiful photos!”
Another week later, and their full online viewing site went live. And this is the e-mail that came in from Ryan:
“WOW!!! Thank you, Irene!!!! I just viewed all the pics from our wedding! YOU ARE A BAD ASS!!!!!!! And I mean that with all the respect it comes with. You captured everything we wanted to share with the world. Thank you so much!!!! You are a great photographer… One who can capture moments in time with your lens that will never be erased from the history of our lives….. Generations after us will continue to benefit from your eyes through your lens… Thank you so much. I mean it….. Ryan, Much Love!!!!”
It was such an amazing feeling to get that e-mail. I must say, I have never been called a bad ass before, and it’s awesome! Andrea+Ryan, we wish you so much happiness. Congratulations!!!
