After nearly a decade together, Bethany & Ken know each other inside out. So when Ken decided to propose amidst spring’s cherry blossoms, he had to postpone his wedding proposal several times because she kept guessing that the question was about to come. What else can I tell you about Bethany & Ken? Well, they will make an artistic family, with Bethany’s two degrees in art and her job teaching art appreciation at a local college combined with Ken’s musical talent. (Ken plays trumpet in a band that performs at wedding receptions, no less!)
Bethany told me she tends to get a little bit nervous in front of the camera, and asked to go somewhere more private with fewer gawkers for their DC engagement photography. And Ken said he just wants natural-looking engagement photography without the fake smiles. They admitted that they’re goofballs – silly, playful, and funny, and that they try to make each other laugh for photos. Both are from Texas and liked the idea of a location that, even if not completely green, at least had options for some engagement photography with nature in the background. And so, we landed on Glen Echo Park in Maryland, the perfect complement to their playful personalities with just a touch of greenery.
My favorite images from their engagement photography session? Definitely the images of Ken playing his trumpet, Bethany hanging off his arm…and plugging her ears… I really do love the cuddle up engagement portraits at the end too. Actually, I love all of them! I look at them, and they make me laugh!
Congratulations to this happy couple, to be wed at the Inn at Brookeville Farms next month!
