When I first met Erika & Juan for their wedding photography consultation, it was just a few days after Christmas, 2012. They’re a quiet couple, and while understated, how they feel about each other was obvious in the tender looks and touches that passed between them. They had met during a study abroad program in Europe. It must have been fate – even though they had been attending the same college, it was Spain that brought them together. Today, nearly five years later, Erika is just about her done with her Masters in Counseling Education and Juan is working on his MPA. And most of all, they are ready to start their married life together.
It was last August that Juan proposed, during quiet drinks by a pond at a vineyard in rural Virginia. So what better place to return for their engagement portraits? I called up the owners of Aspen Dale Winery at the Barn in Delaplane, VA, and they were absolutely delighted to host our engagement portraits, as Erika & Juan are their first couple to get engaged at their winery! And so, it was a beautiful day, a beautiful setting, everything was perfect, and so are their engagement portraits. Congratulations to Juan & Erika! Their wedding day is fast approaching… less than 2 months to go, and I can’t wait to see Erika coming down the aisle!
The portrait below is the one Erika & Juan asked us to enlarge as a 16×24 luster art print mounted as a standout. I made the left side of the image partly transparent, so that they can display it at their wedding reception and have their friends and family sign on the left side of the print.
The garden below is where Juan proposed to Erika back in August!
This is the cozy log cabin-like setting in the dining area of the winery.
