It had been at least ten years since I last saw Linh, my friend from high school. She had moved out west long before that even, and although we kept in touch through annual holiday cards (admittedly more regular on her side than ours), ten years is quite a long time. So it was a very pleasant surprise when Linh’s message popped into my Facebook inbox one day.
“My sister, Loanne, is getting married this summer (date not finalized yet). She really likes your wedding photos…”
Just 1 1/2 weeks later, date finalized, Loanne called me.
“I’ve seen your name everywhere, both when looking at weddings AND venues! I like the style of your wedding photography – other wedding photographers we looked at did too much editing, such that their photos didn’t look real anymore. Your wedding photography is real and unique, and I can see the personalities of the couples.”
The best part about this wedding? It’s that we both made new friends and reconnected with an old one. I got to hang out with Linh after more than ten years and meet her husband and kids! And Loanne, whose family is from Vietnam, has been SO sweet in bringing us traditional Vietnamese dessert drinks that I had loved when I visited Vietnam 11 and 12 and 13 years ago. After the wedding, she and Jamie even introduced us to and took us to lunch at the Eden Center – a sort of VietnamTown in northern Virginia that we didn’t know about. I’m so, so happy to have photographed this wedding. It means so much to me. Awww, look at me now, I’m tearing up. I better stop here, and simply say congratulations to Loanne & Jamie, wed in a quiet ceremony on a bridge overlooking Carroll Creek in Frederick, Maryland, with celebration following at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center.
And many thanks to this happy couple for another 5-star review of our professional wedding photography services on Google!
Now on to the wedding photos! We were all super excited that the County of Frederick finished their construction just in time for the wedding of this beautiful water fountain at the eastern end of Carroll Creek Linear Park, right outside the Delaplaine.
